The charm of Naranjos lies in its simplicity. Despite its limited seating, the ambience is vibrant and welcoming, creating an inviting space for food lovers to indulge. As Tiffany R. encapsulates in her review, the tacos de barbacoa are not just flavorful but feature an incredible consommé that has garnered a loyal following. This sentiment is echoed through numerous positive testimonials that spotlight the restaurant's dedication to quality.

  • Quality Ingredients: Customers like Erick G. and Baba O. have highlighted Naranjos' commitment to using high-quality meats, such as Harris Ranch steak, which sets them apart from other taquerias. The beef is tender, unlike many other places that skimp on quality.
  • Handmade Tortillas: The handmade corn tortillas are a staple here, enhancing each taco's flavor profile. As Allister D. emphasizes, the difference is palpable, creating a delightful balance between the meat and tortilla.
  • Signature Dishes: The barbacoa tacos reign supreme among loyal patrons. The flavorful cuts of beef combined with the nicely crafted tortillas create an unforgettable experience. Other highlighted offerings include the birria and carne asada tacos, which leave customers raving about their deliciousness.
  • Generous Portion Sizes: Diners will find no shortage of meat in their tacos. Baba O. stresses that you get what you pay for at Naranjos, with hearty servings that will leave you satisfied.

The menu also features an array of burritos, such as the Burrito De Chile Relleno, packed with flavor and priced reasonably at $13.99. A visit wouldn't be complete without trying the exceptional tomatillo sauce, praised for its zest and complement to any dish.

Customers often return for the consume, an aromatic broth that adds another layer of depth to your meal. Enjoy it as a sip or a dip with your tacos for an indulgent experience.

Although the place is very small, the food is good! The tacos de barbacoa have flavor and their consume is amaaazing. I always order a big cup of consume preparado which is with a spoonful of their salsa and cebolla/cilantro. Their tacos de birria are also delicious with some consume!

I don't get it. I'm thinking that everyone thinks they're a foodie and well... I read about the best taquerias in Sunset Magazine about 10 years ago. Naranjo's was mentioned; I went to most. A decade later, I am still returning. Here's the deal: 90%++ of the Taquerias are using the cheapest cut of meats, chuck roll and similar. It is very elastic, full of nerves, etc. I recently went to two other taquerias and same deal. The reason I continue to return to Naranjo's is that he is the only taqueria that I know of that uses quality Harris Ranch steak, either skirt or flap - that's 2.5 to 3 times more expensive than the cuts most taco places use (that's why most places cut the cheap meat the size of confetti). And the kicker is their Tomatillo Sauce - simply the best. Pay a few cents more and you get HANDMADE CORN TORTILLAS people. I have tried the barbacoa and it was nice. They provide you with some consommé when you order and eat there, awesome. Hole in the wall - yes, awesome too. For the best steak tacos in the Bay Area, Naranjo's is the place.

Looking back at my reviews, i'm supervised that i haven't reviewed Naranjos Taqueria! We have been going here every once in a while on Sunday mornings for years! We always get the same thing, tacos de barbacoa con tortillas hecho a mano. Make sure to get the tortillas handmade! You won't be disappointed, especially if you've been partying the night before *wink*. The cup of consume & the spicy green salsa will bring you back to life as you recover the next day for the week. The little restaurant is nestled downtown so parking is a little hard to find but it's so worth it i promise! I've recently tried the asada taco so keep in mind that it's actually pretty good. But please, if you're heading there, make sure you get the tacos of barbacoa with the handmade tortillas! They're famous for that, & the service is actually pretty good! The young man who is always the cashier when we go is top tier, i wish i knew his name. Make sure to head there when they first open though as the place is always popping because it's soo good!

Wow. I came here on a fluke because I was doing something local. DELICIOUS! My top spot for tacos was a place in El Sobrante but after having their carnitas and their balaclava tacos... I am at a tie right now. I'll have to take the wife here for the tie breaker. I will admit I have never heard nor tried balaclava and folks... I have been missing out on the shredded meat! The folks that work here are really nice as well. This place is small. It definitely fit the description of hole in the wall. Narrow spot, hardly any seating but delicious food. I recommend you try this if you are in the area and enjoy a good taco!

A lot of people often talk about the price of this spot as a downside to how much on average the price of tacos skyrocketed in the Bay. That may be a miss to some from this spot, and I understand. This spot is legendary for their barbacoa tacos, I been coming here since a jit. They haven't switched up one bit. Some say they switched up the tortillas, and their recipe; but honestly it's all the same from when I was a kid. First off, don't expect a ton of seating inside. It's a small spot, with limited seating. You're lucky to have a spot inside to sit inside if it's packed out. When it's not packed out, you should be good. Make space for others in there trying to order and for the people trying to grab a drink for the fridge. Don't be weird staring at the people making your order, or at the people placing an order. Don't take up the space that is limited, especially for small the spot is. Give them space to put some love into your order too. Wait outside and be patient. They'll get to you, trust in the process. Went with their classic barbacoa tacos. Three of them, with a medium consome, and Squirt on the side. Paid around $22 including a debit fee which is fine. Let's talk about the value of what you get, the tacos are not small. They're not Tacos El Grullense small, in fact they pack their tacos with a ton of meat, pause. They do not SKIMP on the meat, don't matter what taco you go for. If you feel like they skimp for whatever reason, you needa self reflect real quick. They have a good tortilla to meat ratio. At first bite, they still take me back to the first time I had this spot with my uncle and mom. Flavor is still on point, barbacoa is very tender, and fresh. Don't be shy with the green sauce. It's smacks. Dip your tacos in the consume too. Also, drink your consume like it's a Starbucks coffee. It's good for the soul. Consume is hot so be careful, and got a kick to it for those who are not tolerant to spice. My homie went with some Al pastor tacos and carnitas which I haven't tried from that spot. I only really come to this spot for the barbacoa tacos. He put me on that day with the carnitas and Al pastor. Both were a 5 out of 5. Like always, they didn't skimp on the carnitas and al pastor, they packed out them tacos really nice. I highly recommend this spot if you're feeling jiggy, and wanting to spend a little more for some smack tacos.

This place has hands down the best barbacoa tacos. The tortillas are hand-made, the meat is tender and fatty, and their special consume is delicious. The tacos make a huge difference with the homemade tortillas. Everything was just on point. I love squeezing the fresh lime and hot chili oil onto the meat for more flavor. This place is pretty small in space with only a few tables to sit at so be prepared. They also accept digital payment now but with a small fee; I'd say, still pay with cash. The prices are pretty expensive with about $5 a taco although the quality and taste is definitely worth it. I also, recommend ordering their burrito with pollo asado meat. The grilled chicken gives this nice smoky flavor while the Mexican rice is freshly cooked and has a nice saucy texture to it. I love this taqueria and will always come back for more barbacoa tacos!
